Article by Robert Blume

Micro ATX (or ?ATX) is a form aspect motherboard available in diverse sizes from 9.6′ x 9.6′to 6.75′ x 6.75′. The motherboard supports Intel, Via, and AMD chipsets or CPUs. The motherboard was released in 1997 and it was designed as a replacement for ATX form factor motherboards. Some of the positive aspects of this motherboard more than the ATX form aspect motherboards it replaced consist of the smaller and much more compact size, theintegrated devices which signifies fewer expansion slots, lower chassis cost, lower consumption of power, and a number of other people. ATX form element motherboards were developed in 1995 by Intel. microATX is backward-compatible with the original ATX. The mounting points are subsets of those used by ATX motherboards and the I/O panels are also identical. This implies microATX motherboards can fit in the circumstances of ATX motherboards. ATX motherboards and microATX motherboards also share power connectors. The two boards also share chipsets which are southbridges or northbridges. Nevertheless, cases for microATX are typically smaller. The common ATX motherboard size is 25% longer than a microATX motherboard at 12′ wide x 9.6′deep.

Modern ATX form aspect motherboards come with far more than five PCI/ PCI-Express expansion slots even though microATX form aspect motherboards only come with four as the maximum. This is the reason why microATX motherboards come with integrated peripherals such as integrated graphics cards. An example of this is Asus A8N-VM CSM motherboard which comes with an onboard GeForce 6 graphics card, AC’97 audio card, and a gigabit Ethernet adapter. The power supply has 3 principal outputs and these are +three.3 V, +five V and +12 V. You could also get supplies with 5 VSB (for standby) and ?12 V (for low power). microATX situations support 6 SATA devices and 4legacy IDE drives only. If you so wish, you could maximize the capability of these motherboards by setting them on ATX situations. Note that some microATX circumstances that use power supplies that do not havestandard dimensions will call for LP PCI cards.

Motherboards getting the heart and soul for creating a method. It is the component that connects all the other parts together and make sure they run smoothly. As such, choosing the greatest gaming motherboard is the most important activity that you need to do when constructing a gaming laptop or computer. This post will teach you how to choose the best gaming motherboard.

Choose which type of CPU to use

This might appear irrelevant to picking a motherboard. In actual truth, this is the most essential factor you require to do before selecting a motherboard. The reason getting that the sort of CPU will decide the kind of motherboard you need to have. For example, if you select an Intel CPU, then you have to get the socket 775 motherboard or else the CPU won’t fit into the motherboard. Deciding on the sort of CPU will help you to make a much better selection when selecting the finest gaming motherboard.

Decide if the motherboard supports the sort of CPU you have chosen

As mentioned before, if you are using an Intel CPU, you have to get a socket 775 motherboard whereas an AMD CPU requires a socket AM2 motherboard. In addition, some of the older socket 775 motherboards do not help dual core processors (even even though they use the identical socket) or even quad-core processors. Check out the manufacturer’s web site to get confirmation prior to you purchase the motherboard.

Asus Motherboards

ASUS ROG Maximus III Formula.

ASUS’ Republic of Gamers series motherboards have been the pinnacle of every series and provided that additional one thing that was not identified with regularity on the non ROG models. The prime focus on X58 based systems was the cost of entry into the club of ownership. Intel has realized it left a considerable portion of the public to its competitor so the company has now rectified this mistake with the introduction of the P55 Express chipset and socket 1156 i5 and i7 processors to bring the price of an Intel high performance method down to a comfy acquire point. Along with this introduction ASUS has released a significant number of P55 based motherboards to fit every price point from mild to extreme. The Maximus III Formula is ASUS’ latest ROG motherboard that is built upon the P55 chipset. The Maximus III Formula is built employing the newest design philosophy from ASUS known as Extreme design. This idea is meant to supply all the rewards that you may possibly or might not see such as diodes used to prevent static discharges when plugging in an external device from killing your hardware. Solid capacitors for extended life, Stack Cool 3+ technology to reduce the operating temperature of vital components, dual 2oz copper layers to aid with efficiency and board cooling. All issues that fall within the three design objectives of Safety, Reliability and Efficiency. As if that is enough, ASUS has included a big suite of software program tools that bring added functionality.

Rampage III Black Edition.

Bigfoot’s Killer E2100 platform is based on the company’s Killer 2100 gaming network card which uses a devoted network processing unit. The tech also attributes Bigfoot’s Game Networking DNA software that can classify and accelerates on the internet game targeted traffic. Needless to say, Bigfoot’s Killer tech must assist defeat the hungry lag monster in the course of the ultimate frag-fest or a enormous boss raid on the web.

Friday Bigfoot added that the ASUS ROG Rampage III Black Edition motherboard was created around feedback received from the Computer gaming community. “Powered by Bigfoot Networks’ new Killer E2100 networking platform and a host of other gaming-centric features, the ROG Rampage III Black Edition motherboard combines innovative style and technical intelligence to make the Pc gaming encounter a lot more rewarding and accessible,” the company said.

History

Creative began as a computer repair shop, where Sim developed an add-on memory board for the Apple II pc. Later, they began creating customized PCs adapted in Chinese. A component of this style included enhanced audio capabilities, so that the device could create speech and melodies. The achievement of this audio interface led to the improvement of a standalone sound card.

In 1987, Creative released a 12-voice sound generator sound card for the IBM Pc architecture, the Creative Music Program(C/MS), featuring two Philips SAA 1099 chips. Sim personally went from Singapore to Silicon Valley and managed to get RadioShack’s Tandy division to market place the item. The card was, nevertheless, unsuccessful and lost to AdLib. This card had the Yamaha YM3812 chip (also identified as OPL2) that was found on the AdLib card, as nicely as audio capabilities for playing and recording digital samples. Creative used aggressive marketing methods, from calling the card a “stereo” component to calling the sound producing micro-controller a “DSP” (for “digital sound processor”), hoping to associate the product with a digital signal processor.

Creative Technology’s Sound Blaster sound card was among the initial dedicated audio processing cards to be created widely obtainable to the general consumer. The card soon became a de facto common for sound cards in PCs for a lot of years, largely by the fact that it was the very first to bundle what is now regarded to be a component of a sound card program: digital audio, on-board music synthesizer, MIDI interface and a joystick port. This continued until the 2000s when OEM PCs began to be built with sound boards integrated directly onto the motherboard, and the Sound Blaster located itself decreased to a niche item.

Monaural Sound Blaster cards had been introduced in 1989, and stereo cards followed in 1992 (Sound Blaster Pro). Wavetable MIDI was added with the 16-bit Sound Blaster AWE32 and AWE64 with 32 and 64 voices. In 1998, Sound Blaster Reside! was the companys initial PCI-based sound card. More than the years, the Sound Blaster line has been enhanced to give 3D audio and house theater quality sound directly from a Computer.

Creative dominated the Pc audio market and remains unchallenged by a significant competitor given that the late 1990s which saw a legal tussle amongst Creative and Aureal Semiconductor. A series of lawsuits was filed by Aureal in 1998 which alleges infringements more than a variety of technologies patents such as PCI audio and 2D/3D positional sound APIs. Creative responded by counter suing with a series of lawsuits for false marketing and a variety of other claims. Aureal won the case but went bankrupt as a result of legal fees, so its assets were acquired by Creative in September 2000 for US million.

In the mid 1990s, Creative’s venture into the CD-ROM market place proved to be unsuccessful. Creative was forced to write off nearly US0 million in inventory when the market collapsed due to a flood of cheaper options.

In April 1999, Creative launched the NOMAD line of digital audio players that would later introduce the MuVo and ZEN series of portable media players. Creative remains a significant competitor in the portable audio player market, a marketplace which they dominated till the entry of Apple Pc with the iPod. In November 2004, Creative Labs announced a million advertising and marketing campaign to promote their digital audio items, such as the ZEN range of MP3 players.

Creative applied for U.S. Patent 6,928,433 on January five, 2001 and was awarded the patent on August 9, 2005. The ZEN Patent was awarded to Creative for the invention of user interface for portable media players. This opened the way for possible legal action against Apple’s iPod and the other competing players. Creative took legal actions against Apple in Could 2006. In August, 2006, Creative and Apple entered into a broad settlement, with Apple paying Creative million for the license to use the Zen patent. Creative will join the “Produced for iPod” plan which opens new opportunities for the company.

On March 22, 2005, The Inquirer reported that Creative Labs had agreed to settle in a class action lawsuit that was filed due to the fact of the way its Audigy and Extigy soundcards had been marketed. Creative has provided buyers who bought the cards up to a .50 reduction on the price of their next acquire with Creative, while the lawyers involved in filing the dispute against Creative will get payment of approximately ,000.

In 2007, Creative voluntarily delisted itself from NASDAQ, which had the symbol of CREAF. Its stocks are now solely on the Singapore Exchange (SGX-ST). In early 2008, Creative Labs’ technical assistance center, located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, laid off several technical help staff, furthering ongoing issues surrounding Creative’s economic scenario.

In January 2009, Creative generated net buzz with a mysterious web site promising a “stem cell-like” processor which would give a 100-fold enhance in supercomputing power over present technology, as well as advances in consumer 3D graphics. At CES 2009, it was revealed to be the ZMS-05 processor from ZiiLABS, a subsidiary formed from the combining of 3DLabs and Creative’s Personal Digital Entertainment division.

Goods

Sound Blaster

Major post: Sound Blaster

Creative’s Sound Blaster line is one of the dominant names in the Pc audio market. In 1987, the Creative Music Program was released as the first audio device from the firm. In 1988, the firm took the Creative Music Technique and marketed it at RadioShack as Game Blaster. The following year, 1989, the Sound Blaster 1. was released, helped by the best compatibility with then industry leader Ad Lib, Inc.’s sound card. By 1992, the Sound Blaster had achieved dominance in the market place and AdLib filed for bankruptcy. The present revision of the Sound Blaster is known as the Sound Blaster X-Fi. The X-Fi technologies can be found in numerous other Creative devices.

Daniel_K Incident

In late March of 2008, Creative skilled an on the internet public relations backlash in response to a post by the Vice President of Corporate Communications, Phil O’Shaughnessy. In a message posted to the Creative public discussion forums, O’Shaughnessy requested that a user named “Daniel_K” cease distributing modified versions of the drivers for Creative hardware. Daniel_K, a well-known member of the Creative community, modified official Sound Blaster drivers in order to permit compatibility on Windows Vista. O’Shaughnessy took particular concern with the reality that the modified drivers “run on other products for which they are not intended” as nicely as the reality that

I have a big green Alienware desktop pc that I bought a couple of years ago. Every thing just began to fall apart on it and now I am searching for a motherboard that is for Intel athlon and it also needs slots for DDR Ram and AGP slot for video. Supposedly these parts are challenging to uncover due to the fact they aren’t readily sold any longer. If any person has any concepts of where I can discover these parts I drastically appreciate it!

Answer by hellotman16
AMD athlon, socket A.

Go to newegg.com or tigerdirect.com.

If you know the precise motherboard, go to ebay and search for the model quantity.

Cheers

A neighbor’s son came more than with this laptop & wanted to know if I could get the USB port operating.

Checked Device Manager & there is NO listing of USB, so I did a Locate New Hardware & it located absolutely nothing.

Checked Toshiba’s site for info andor drivers, nothing was mentioned about USB supportdriver…

I did download & install Every update obtainable for the laptop, but still no USB is listed & the USB port does not recognize something I plug into it

I also did a “Add New Hardware Manually” & selected “Infrared” then chosen “built-in laptop device” then I selected “Toshiba” & Windows loaded the software program.

NOTE: This laptop has Infrared & USB port on 1 module that plugs INTO the motherboard.

Anyway, I rebooted & got a popup message “PCI Universal Serial Port located, click subsequent to install driver” Which I did but it did NOT locate a driver. I tried Every single Folder & Every single SubDirectory but still “No driver found”

Now the Infrared shows as operating but Nevertheless NO USB PORT!

Answer by dze
infrared has nothing to do with it … im not understanding ur note about the module though … if its a pcmcia card then u require the pcmcia driver for the laptop plus the driver specific to the card …
